Hey all.... looking for some firsthand info on the NW corner of GMU 181 and GMU 17 next to 181. I am thinking of hunting the area around Chimney Rock....Red/White Slide Mountain... maybe to Dennis Hump and Ironclad for an early season O-T-C bow hunt. Kinda wondering about the roads (FS 103/CR53) .... pull outs for places to camps...steepness on area in general.... Thinking of camping high because of it being cooler up high. Have a post in another forum. Just thought I'd try here. I checked google earth maps and looks like a fairly good area. Steep around the peaks, but not too bad in some places. Anybody familiar with this area. Thanks in advance!!

There are some decent elk in there. The timber can be extremely thick in areas and the beetle kill blowdown can be a pain. If you get above the beetle kill into the spruces you will likely have better luck.
