Animals are screaming from 0400 to 1000 daily. We got it done day one and put a nice little 4x5 down. Saw one bear so far. Switching gears to muleys in the am. Temps today in the shade at 10,000 were 46 degrees so I'm guessing 65 in the sun. Will post pics and a story when we get to town. Good luck to all and stay safe.

Slugz I am jealous sent you and email but I ended up getting my tail handed to me in unit 37. Im to fat and out of shape to hunt the way I want (already working on that) and as it was my first elk hunt I didn't know how to adapt and figure out a new plan. I think they were all lower on Private land as JimP warned me about.

But congrats to you sir.

Update #1. Saw a big boar this am. He was either chasing something or being chased as he was making tracks to get somewhere. A nice 6x6 herd bull was put down today by the only other group hunting the valley. Tough sledding with he muley search as its pretty hot and dry at their elevation. Looks like the clouds roll in tommorrow then some rain on Friday. Good luck to all and be safe.

Update #2. Heartbreak Ridge. We got some cloud cover this am and the muleys started moving. My son pulled off a made for tv no boots socks only stalk on a 6x7 heavy horned monster. Got to 50 and took the shot only to watch the wise old grey ghost wheel downhill as the arrow was midflight and it passed in front of his chest. Crusher for the kid as he did everything perfect in less than ideal conditions. Well at least we know where he is living. Will be in that basin till the end. Closest I got was 70 yards on a nice very tall 4x5 before he winded me. Getting recharged and then back after them.
