I love to duck hunt and realize this year was a downer. I hunt the Carson river, washoe state park and scripps. Also on my ranch but am tryin to expand where I hunt to get different types of ducks.

Do any of yall know of any public wetland/ pond areas to hunt ducks? I don't want honey holes, just askin if there is any spots outside of Stillwater and washoe valley that there are hunt able spots for ducks?

You can pm me instead of posting on here and am grateful for any info. I also have info on northern washoe for antelope and some Intel on some central Nevada units for deer. Thanks

I don't have any specific info for you on that area but I can tell you it was a down year across the West for waterfowl in terms of numbers of birds killed, at least in my area. Heard a lot of reports from up north that it was too warm and not enough snow cover to drive them down so they just stayed. I would also say you may want to wander into California if you want to get into some better numbers of different species.

Northern Cal is a tough option due to shear numbers of private club leases and the numbers trying to get onto the refuges. Is there anything around Yerington? Hawthorne Lake attracts birds, not sure on access though. Ruby refuge is quite a ways but attracts birds. Good luck and God bless

It is about a half day drive north of you, but Summer Lake in OR may be worth looking at. I have some friends that used to hunt in that area some years back. Don't know much more than that, so you'd have to do further checking to see if they have the species you seek.

When I was a kid we used to jump shoot ducks along ceeks in the Wildhorse area. The creeks had lot of beaver ponds and most of them had a few ducks on them.
Ruby Valley marsh always has lots of ducks but it's quite far from you.
