Happy Fathers Day Eastmans Forum.

Will be heading up for 5 days of scouting tommorrow am. In addition to my normal check on the calving areas, herd health and forage I'll be testing out some gear.

Will post pics that came from a Swarovski 65mm scope, NovaGrade universal phone adapter and a Samsung Note 8.

I'll then head up to Lander WYO and get my hands on a Maven Optics spotting scope and do a side by side test Maven vs Swaro.

Of note I'm renting the Swaro from Optics4rent. Seems like a great service at a great price.

69 days till the archery opener.

Well........lesson #1....if scouting real early make sure the 2 tracks are open and not closed for spring elk calving. June 21 is when they open up here. Will head down to the Grand Mesa for a few days to kill time.

I have 35 acres with a cabin I'm building in unit 10. Unfortunately I haven't had a day off in over a month and haven't been able to get there.

Spent the last 30 hours up on the Grand Mesa. 4 bulls, 2 cows, 3 bucks 2 does, mallards in high mountain lakes, cold at night and the forage and animals look great. Saw more than the normal amount of deer than years before. Headed back up to Meeker. No pics yet as my plan to charge the phone got delayed by a bottle of 18 yr old Glenn Fiddich. Mosquitos were kinda bad.....but after living in Maine for 3 years.....they weren't really bad at all.

Now back up north in my stomping grounds. 30 cows and a few bulls, all small. I great looking blonde bear, 1 doe and a fawn. Not as green as last year and I'm here 27 days earlier than normal. The cows appear to be in small birthing groups of 5-8 only. Have not seen a single calf yet, which I think is weird. Will post pics when I have a good signal.

Yeah that's what I'm seeing also on my cams just not catching them out running around yet. I'm usually up here July 15th and see them out playing .

First stalk of the year. Belly crawl to these two dumb dumbs to 52 yards. Few pics then back out without them knowing I was even there.
