Ok folks I drew unit 12 in NM for mule deer. I've never even heard of the towns in that unit. Has anyone ever been there? What does the area look like?

The short cut from Fence Lake to Quemado will ruin your tires. Mostly rolling hills with pinion and cedars. When I was there the land owners were easy to get along with. I saw a 400 plus 8x8 elk that is the largest elk I have ever seen. There are wolves and lynx in unit 12. I may have a file left of hunting unit 12. One outfitter controls most of the good spots.
so plenty of opportunity to glass at distance and spot and stalk? From google earth it looks like there aren't any woods, just low brush with some scattered trees. thanks for any info.
