Not really, there were 2 public and 5 private tags for this given ranch (which was a combo of state trust land and rancher land). Ranch was nearly 25000 acres. My hunting partner and I had the two public draw tags. I met the private hunt guys two days prior to the hunt. The rancher wanted the private guys and public guys to stay separate. We hunted the east portion and the private hunt guys hunted the western portion. They had a larger portion in terms of acres but they had more guys in their hunting party. I'm curious to how much they paid for the private tags. I didn't ask. My hunting partner did bring the Game and Fish regs booklet along and it actually states that on these public hunts that take place on ranches and leased state trust land, that the hunters are to have access to the entire ranch. Nonetheless, I found three groups on Thursday scouting the parcel of land to the east and kind of monitored the antelope late on Friday afternoon so that I'd have starting positions for Saturday morning. We stalked for almost 1.5 hours and finally got our shots on Saturday morning. You could tell the antelope were getting nervous after a few days of increased activity on the ranch, There probably hadn't been this many folks at one time on the ranch for some time. Their eyesight was amazing. They lock in and stare at 700 yards. I ran the odds for this hunt. Less than 10% draw. I got a lucky draw. I do know guys in NM that have never drawn in 20 years. I feel lucky that we drew and we had a great hunt.
