Howdy all. Just registered today. Been gleaning information from the site for a week or so. I'm in the planing phase of next falls hunting season. Trying to get a Cow elk hunt lined out in WY, UT, or CO. Might also try for another WY antelope and or Mule deer tag. Was fortunate enough to hunt Antelope W of Newcastle and Mule deer N of Gillette with a old buddy this season. Had a great time and we filled our tags. It was a spectacular Fall for me and I filled my three freezers to the top with plenty of game.
I'm through and through meat hunter. I'll leave the big ones for those of you that desire them. For me a drawing a cow elk, or moose tag in a good area would thrill me and be far less stressful than drawing a bull elk tag in a highly coveted unit. I doubt I could relax enough to have fun on a hunt where I know I have a once in a long time chance to take a true trophy. No Sir! Give me a hunt where I work way too hard to hunt up a slick headed split-tail. Let others shake their heads in amusement when they hear how far I went to get "just a cow." I'm content to remember each and every hunt as I dine on the results.
