Hi All, new guy here from North Carolina starting my planning for next year's adventure. I've never done a western hunting trip other than pheasants up in ND, but my wife foolishly gave me the green light to go for it. That means I need to get too far along in the process for her to try and stop me! The plan is to head to CO for an OTC during 2nd rifle season next year and do some backpacking into the wilderness. I haven't decided on a unit yet, but I've got some time to figure it out. I'll be reading up on you guy's posts as from what I can tell so far they carry a TON of good info and experience. There's not too many opportunities in NC for true backpack hunting, but I've done a few weeks on the AT which have put some sense into my head as to what I need / don't need to bring with. As it stands right now it's just me, but I've got a friend or two that might be joining if they can manage the funds and permission slips. Glad to be a part of the group and can't wait for next fall.
