Good scopes.
I did a review when they first came out with one several years ago.
I am not sure if I am allowed to post a link to an article from another forum.

I got tired of sending my Leupold 4.5 x 14 vx3 to Portland. Not as bad as my Kimber Montana but i'll never own either of those brands as long as I'm above ground.
Save a little money and buy a Nightforce nxs. You can get them for $1600. Any doubts, go to their website and watch their torture test video.
I'm with WB on this one. If you want to get into LR hunting/shooting save the extra $ and buy a Nightforce.

We have the vortex pst on one of our rifle set ups and I'd highly recommend it. Just because vortex warranty is. We went with the mrad reticle instead of Moa which for a hunting situation works great. To dial up is a lot quicker with the mrad than moa. I'd highly recommend it.

My Vortex HST is having issues w/ returning back to zero. I had problems on last years Mountain Goat hunt when I had to shoot twice because the bullets hit to the right. I recently re-zeroed the scope to 100 yds from a bench and dialed up to 600 yds and never touched the windage. Rang the 8" steel plate every time. When I dialed back to zero and shot at 100 yds, the bullets hit 1 3/8" to the right. I turned the windage turret one MIL in both directions and then back to zero and the next 10 shots hit 1 3/8" to the right. I sent the scope back to Vortex and they called and said there was nothing wrong w/ the scope. we discussed the scope for a while and the tech said it would be tested w/ a .300 Win Mag. When I got the scope back their test target had one group of .22 caliber holes at almost 1 MOA. They definitely did not test the scope w/ anything close to the recoil of my 7mm-08 w/ 162 A-Max bullets let alone a .300 wind mag. There was a called shot and a flier marked on the target which makes me question their test procedures.

The weather here has been either windy or rain/snow lately so, I haven't gotten out to shoot a couple of box test with the scope. For sure Vortex did not test for turret issues on my scope.

Best hunting scopes I've tried are the Swarovski Z5 3.5-18 with the 4W reticle and turret, and the Leupold VX-6 3-18 with the TMOA reticle and CDS. I have them on my favorite rifles now, the VX-6 on ones I'm not worried about weight on and the Z5's on my mountain rifles. The Leupold has a 30mm tube and it stays right with the 1" Swaro as the sun goes down. I've been very impressed with both.

The Leupold has the covered turret which I like a times.

I'm not an extreme range hunter but these get me out to 600yds or a bit further just fine. Mostly the longer shots are just practice but it's nice to know I can make them. My best elk came at 614yds.

i'm getting a new setup soon and i've been reading for a few weeks about different scopes and wanted a few opinions from you guys.
This gun will be my western gun for antelope, muley, whitetail, and elk shooting at ranges up to 500+ yards.
Also wanting to keep it under 1500 but closer to 1k is even better.

Pretty much set on the tikka t3 lite in 300. Now i need to top it with something. So far i really like the following-

vortex pst 6x24
nightforce shv 5x20
zeiss conquest hd5 5x25

thoughts?
this year i put a zeiss conquest hd 5x25 with a z plex 800 reticle on a 270 wsm...nails those antelope out to 600 plus yards, plus a nice muley at 450 yards both in colorado...$1000.00 at sportsman warehouse, great clarity with a super balistic program on line
