Thought about stopping for a few days in NM to hunt black bear on my way to AZ elk hunting. Anyone have any advice. Methods, bear numbers? chances of success, etc ?

Usually I'd say find water, but I think they've been getting a lot of rain lately. I did something similar a couple of years ago in unit 17. I saw a bunch of elk, deer, and couple of coyotes. I even saw a mountain lion. Oh and on my way there I saw a bunch of antelope. I guess I saw everything except bear haha. I had a great time though. Wish I could be of more help.
