New Mexico 16c First Split

Got lucky and drew 16c first season. Hunted it a few years back, just looking for advice on anyone who has hunted recently. Much appreciated.

We were there last December for a youth hunt. I remember it well after falling and breaking my leg. We had eight inches of snow and it was 5 above zero. Elk were at every mud hole that had water between Beaver and Indian Peaks. My accident was near Wolf Canyon which had elk. I would check with the game warden about that area as I found eight dead elk in there that apparently died after drinking from a contaminated water tank. We saw several elk in scouting before the winter storm, almost all water related.
