Hello Eastman's forum members. I joined looking for information on an over-the-counter hunt in Colorado. I'm thinking unit 70 based on some input from friends but am still undecided. Haven't hunted CO since I was in High School (30+ years ago) but I've hunted New Mexico unit 16A several times before they shut down the Non-res tag availability. Also hunted elk in the Idaho panhandle and around Walla Walla, Wa. However, it's been 10 years since my last trip and now my son turned 17 (overnight it seems!) and I'd like to get him on an elk hunt before he goes off on his own. So, admittedly, I'm behind the curve in planning but am hoping to put together a decent trip (doesn't have to be the trip of a lifetime) but I want to give it my best effort for my son's first trip. So, I'll be snooping around on here and trying to see what I can learn. I'm not even committed to hunting in CO yet so we may end up in WY or... depending on what I can find out. I'm primarily a bowhunter (whitetails and (previously) elk), but this time we're going with the guns. Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge on this site. ~Chris
