Looking for some tips on how to go about E-scouting to find a place to hunt elk in the fall. I don't have issues thumbing through state websites looking at harvest reports, populations, etc. I just have no clue how to hop on google maps and find places that look "good". The plan as of now is hoping I can get a leftover in Montana (first choice) or go to Idaho OTC if I don't draw in New Mexico. I'm more interested in getting away from crowds and seeing elk and would like to harvest a mature bull, doesn't have to be a giant. Oct-Nov for rifle and any tips for archery is great as well. Appreciate the help everyone!

Good morning Mason....head on over to the new members section and do an intro so the members know something about you, hunting style etc etc.

The search function here is very good at finding old posts based upon subjects. I bet if you throw in "scouting" a ton of different posts will show up to get you started. Members then will most likely post up additional items.

Welcome to the forum!

Any combination steep, secluded, and some level of dark cover will have elk most years. Top maps are great for that.
