Well Gear I unfortunately was unable to scout 16 as planned and ended up doing it on the hunt.
Me too. I decided to get the bull I wanted or no bull at all.

I couldn't get the pattern of the bull I found that fit the bill. I came home empty.

I'll start trying again in 5 years.

You have a lot more self control than I do, hats off to you. It takes too long to draw a tag in NV to let it go unfilled unless you have other states you can hunt every year for elk.
It took me 14 years to draw my bull tag in NV and then add in the ten year wait because I got one to even start applying again and that is almost half of my life.

It is a hard tag to draw. I didn't want to waste it by shooting a dink that I wouldn't be happy with.

Really looking at the trend of the draw odds, it looks like some of the good hunts are getting easier to draw.

I'm taking the chance that I can wait the 5 years and draw another before my 10 year wait would be over.

At least now I can put in for cow and spike tags for a few years while waiting.
