Im planning a turkey hunt for April near Chadron , what weather can I expect for the middle of the month? Have the turkey numbers been effected by the droughts and wild fires?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I was up there in the fall hunting antelope and there are turkeys out the wazoo down there by Chadron State Park. I saw lots of turkeys perched on top of round bails ripping them all to hell to get the bugs out. You might be able to knock on some doors and get onto some private land, that would drive me crazy if they destroyed all my bails.

The fires def affected the areas north of crawford, crispy all over and lots of road closures. The stuff south of Chadron was not as affected from what I saw.

Buy a round at the local watering hole, you will probably have 5 invitations to come hunt turkeys on private ground before you leave.

Have fun, post pictures, we are going to NM on some public to try and get my father his Merriam's, he wants a slam
