Very nice video and bull! I got to hunt Shiras in WY 2011 Glunked some but brought mine in on a string by cow calling. Was there a reason you guys didn't cow call instead?

Awesome! Congrats!

I need one!

What cartridge were you shooting? What grain / bullet?
165 grain AccuBonds out of my Winchester Model 70 in .308.

I did a lot of attempting to cow call but edited it all out of the video to save myself the embarrassment. This is the first moose hunt I've ever been on and I don't think I'm very good at cow calls although some of the bulls that responded were coming to them. They seemed fairly easy to call right up until the wind screwed us every time. It was always drifting down into the draws and we couldn't get below the bulls.

Oh OK. Ya this is an issue with all us DIYers because a lot of us only get one or two opportunities to moose hunt. Critters were few and far between in my two hunts so this made every calling attempt an adventure, especially in New Hampshire. You got a better shiras than mine from WY. Congrats and thanks for sharing your video. I enjoyed it.

Thanks Zim. I sure like being able to watch the hunts later on and I'm glad some of you guys enjoy them. It's a lot easier to leave the video cam at home but so far I feel like it's worth the trouble to get what I can on film.

congrats on the hunt. If it matters, the Clearwater is usually referred to as north central Idaho. the north Idaho, central Idaho line is usually considered the Clearwater river, highway 12, lochsa river, south of that is central Idaho and north of that is north Idaho.

anyway congrats on a nice bull. Where you anywhere near Orofino?

Thanks! Yes, sort of.....North some and definitely not in Eastern Idaho for what that is worth. That is about as specific as I want to be. :)
