Deer everywhere. You?ll have to shoo them away to get to the one you want. The big ones usually hang out by the main roads.

Had a guy stop by our crew one time when we were installing gas line. He asked were the big bears were at. We pointed up on the hill behind us and told him thats were the big ones live. We were all laughing cause the guy clearly wasn't from around there and had no clue.

Guy went up there 100 yards and 10 minutes later we herd 3 shots ring out.

He came running back down telling us he killed a monster...

He had killed a 450 pound boar.

One of the operators went up the gasline and loaded it into the front end loader on the backhoe for him and brought it back and dropped it in the bed of his alcamino....yes...an alcamino.

When he pulled away all of us were just dumbfounded.

I feel like this story applies here GEO.

Go kill one by the main road. They are there apparantley.

Post up pictures. lol

Without a doubt this has to be one of the shortest first posts requesting info I have ever seen on a hunting page.

Didn't even manage to make a sentence, lol.

Congrats and best of luck on your hunt.

Well, it is on the western side of Colorado. If it gets wet it can become miserable if you don't have chains. The deer might still be high or low it will depend on the season. You could get 3' of snow or it could be in the 90's and all this in 2 days time.

If you’re hunting archery, you’ll find lots of velvet bucks. You will want to keep the wind in your face and be sneaky like a ninja. Once you close the distance to that unit 21 buck, act like Robin Hood and let the arrow fly.

But if you’re muzzy hunting, you won’t have to be as sneaky and can even stink a little. Those 21 bucks aren’t dumb, but you’ll need to shoot like Daniel Boone and have an accurate musket ball.

Now let’s say you have a 2nd, 3rd or 4th tag. The bucks will be laid up during second season like they just got done partying all night with the boys. During 3rd season in 21, mr buck will have less buddies and start focusing on the ladies. But still not sure if he wants a girlfriend, so he’s not chasing as hard. During the 4th he might be in love and could be a soon to be daddy. To kill one of these rascals with a rifle, you can wear your street clothes, stink like a bum and pick one off over a mile away if you have skills like Mr Chris Kyle.

Ridn9high, there is one problem with your philosophy of hunting unit 21.

There is no fourth season, just second and third. But then the big boys might be breeding in either the second or the third season. They get started early over there.

Didn’t think someone would catch on to the “4th season” so quick lol.
I would love to be out there on the border during that season if only there was one.

But the bucks across the border in Utah are usually mixing it up during Colorado's second season which is Utah's general buck season, but they really get it going around the first of November.

I had a guy PM me once and all he asked was .... "what do you know about the Vernon unit"?
I replied..." I know a lot, ask me specific questions and I'll give you an honest answer on any question you may have".
I never heard from him again.

sorry my first time to post. I have a second season rifle tag. I had a tag about 9 years ago. Missed a nice buck on Texas mountain. I was wounding if there has been any changes i.e. fires, road closure, etc. that might affect my hunt. I'm 75 years young, going DIY. Can I find any guides or help with deer retrieval ? Thanks for help.

No help with that area, but good luck! I hope to be still doing these things when I'm 75.
