So it's come down to the big debate within myself as to wether I want to kill a whitetail or mule deer this year and I'm torn. Im just curious as to what everyone else's preference was? Mule deer or whitetail? And why?! :)

debate? come one!?!!? how many whitetail you see killed compared to mule deer on tv? After that smoker bear, better just keep up the hardwork and chase the mulies! much more gratifying! nothing against whitetails. but cant beat a public land mulie :)

very true but there is something to be said about the craftiness of a mature whitetail buck that isnt shot over a bait, and the horns are cool! if i had one to choose it would be the big ears though.

I would also have to say mule deer. The iconic 30 incher. To be able to accomplish that with archery equipment is a feat all westerners dream of. A whitetail is no small task. Don't think I am taking anything from the craftiness of a whitetail. But when you picture the deer mounted over your fireplace do you see a whitetail? Not me I see a heavy, dark, tall, and wide 200" class high country mule deer.

Y'all are such western hunters, I love it! There's a mule deer out there that's pushing 30" wide. He is an old buck too and very smart. He's a very unique deer with eye guards and some points that kick out sideways. Eye guards on mule deer are my weakness.

well living in wisconsin and seeing nothing but whitetail unless I drive 12 hours west..........it would be the mule deer without even a slight second of hesitation! Unless that whitetail was 160" or bigger........mulie all the way.

Whitetails just dont get me excited like mule deer do. Maybe some of it is the high country and the places mule deer hunting takes me but I wouldn't trade it for whitetails!

I love the Mule deer. But to have a big Whitetail would be cool too. I guess it would come down to either opertunity or rack size I guess. I would say if you can't choose don't. Let the opertunity make your decision. Good luck either way. Oh and this must be rough for you Jen to have the option to HAVE to choose. Hahhaha
