Mule deer Utah 2020 general rifle

My uncle and I will be hunting Mule deer in the Pine Valley unit in Utah in mid October for the General rifle hunt 2020. We have never hunted in this area is there anybody that would have some input on areas recommended? We usually hunt in the wilderness areas to get away from the crowds, but have been told that at that time of the year the deer will be moved out of the wilderness areas and transition to the lower elevations. Some areas we have been looking into ......the Goldstrike area west of Veyo, the Goat Springs area south of Spring Valley and The Utah Hills westof Saint George.

don't know the area but if the deer are transitioning to the lowlands at that time you might aught to look at their migration routes. mid oct is a might early for the rut so I would look a bit higher for the big bucks then where the does are hanging.

with me not actually knowing the unit , take this with a grain of salt . it is merely what I would probably do.

I wouldn't think there would be a hung migration move this early. As was stated, the rut has not kicked in yet early. I'd start up higher and work my way down until you find them.
