Hey everyone I got a new rifle and scope for my birthday. I was wondering if most of you mount your own scope or if you take it to someone and have them do it? If you do it yourself do you have any tips that will help? Thanks in advance for all your help.

I have 2 piece bases on all mine that I mounted myself. 2 are leupold and 1 is redfield. I havent had a problem with any not lining up. Maybe just lucky but they hit where Im aiming.

I use a one piece base, and used JB weld for solid contact as well as loc tite for all the screws on the base and rings. Another thing I do is make sure my scope is level. I use a leveling kit on the action and scope, I think one best and easiest ways is to set up a plumb bob/line and let gravity take affect and alight your crosshairs perfectly with plumb line.

This works better than the little level vial that goes on the scope from the kits as long as your action is plumb and the string is far enough away that you can focus on it correctly. I've went to one-piece picatinny bases on my rifles and noticed a much better alignment between the two rings vs. the two-piece bases of various types when lapping the rings. I've also found that it's worth it to spend the extra money on good bases and rings in the long run.

Just make sure that your scope isn't canted after u have mounted it cause that can change your point of impact at farther distances. I recommend the fat wrench And then bubble levels in the action and also sitting on your top turret so u make sure it is level. If u have those tools scope mounting is simply.

i am obsessive about scope mounting. I run picatinny rails and bed them to the action with epoxy. I make sure the action is level in a vise with a precision level. Then I align the cross hairs with a plumb level at around 100 yards.

i have had great success with TPS rails and rings. I like how you don't have to "even" the gaps on both sides of the rings.
