Checking to see if anyone in north central Idaho has information about the fires and smoke in the areas of Unit 12?

The National forests are closed to entry, I believe according to the Lolo Pass Ranger station, and my wife has a bull moose tag waiting to use. I was trying to go up there a week to scout before she does and to put a dent in the wolf and bear populations before she comes up. We keep changing our hunting dates as these fires are keeping us out.

Any info would be appreciated

I'm in 8A. Most of the fires still have crews working on them. The cooler temps and some light rain showers this week have really helped the crews gain ground on all the fires. The clearwater complex is the one that will affect unit 12. Its not out but, the conditions are helping to get it controlled. The smoke has been greatly reduced this week compared to last week. I expect the forests to be opened up in a couple of weeks if this cool weather trend continues. Rain is expected again on Saturday across the region. We are all breathing a sigh of relief now. The last 2 weeks have been brutal. I don't expect any of the big fires to really be out till snow falls.

I would think by October travel in the back country will be unrestricted. Unit 9 and 12 should be good to go. I hope mother nature complies with my opinion....................

wet pattern moving in, I hope you boys get hit and without mudslides that Washington had to deal with after all the fires there.
