Hi Guys-
I am a resident of the Bitterroot Valley in Western Montana and have a general elk tag. I moved up from Idaho three years ago and this is the first opportunity I have had to elk hunt since arriving.
I have been out scouting a bit on my mules over the last year or so and really have not nailed any place down. The season runs from about 10/24 - 11/29 so a bit better than a month.
Frankly, the most elk I have seen is down along the highway and river in January. So I am up for any ideas. I have also searched the threads and that has not turned up any great ideas.
I do have my own airplane and that will give me an opportunity to overfly the area and help w/ access ideas and locating water/feed.
Any great ideas or opportunities for access to private land would be appreciated ?? any other suggestions are always appreciated
