About 4 years ago there was a bad winterkill on deer and antelope in the Breaks. Haven't been back since but can anyone say how the deer herd has recovered, if at all. At one time this area was target rich and if a guy cared to hike and glass a lot could look over a bunch of animals. Thanks

Our group hunted the breaks in 2013 area 622, there was a decent amount of deer but the average buck size was marginal. We did see two really big bucks but never could get a shot. I think you could still find a good sized buck if your willing to put in a little time hiking around. We were there second week of November

numbers are still WAY down.....FWP waited 3 years to long to eliminate doe tags and the general rifle season through the entire rut has decimated mule deer herd on public lands throughout much of the state. Not to say there aren't a few good bucks around but its a FAR FAR cry from what it once was!!!

if you can access some private lands there is still good hunting to be had but much of the private that holds good numbers is leased up by the outfitters.
