Missouri courts rule captive deer are still wildlife

Missouri courts recently ruled that captive deer are still considered wildlife, and are subject to control by the Missouri Department of Conservation, instead of being treated as livestock.
With CWD now spreading through our state, (shockingly, the highest concentrations of CWD in wild deer just so happen to be next to a few 'deer farms' that have also had CWD in their herds) hopefully the MDC can minimize the spread of CWD throughout our herds, before it gets out of hand.

I hate these deer game farms. I see the grotesque racks from all the garbage they put into these fenced deer, young deer that barely have the neck muscles to hold their head up with these heavy racks.. It makes me sick. High fences? Don't even get me started.

I'm not sure, but I would imagine that's a major component to the MDC taking over control. When they're treated/classified as livestock, there's really nothing stopping the deer from being transported to new areas.

I'm not sure what disgusts me more, the high fence deer farms themselves, or the people that pay to go shoot one..

That's where CWD came from, deer/elk farms. There shouldn't be any game farm/ranches. Wyoming outlawed them years ago. Wyoming became infected from a high fence operation in Northern Colorado when their critters escaped. It's already spread to most of the US and some places in Europe.

i was looking at one of these high fence operations face book page out of amusement and it was showing "successful killers" mounted heads and i thought it would be funny if they mounted the heads with the ear tag in but they don't, shouldn't they be proud off that pet they killed??

I was looking at a operation there in Mo. They offered a management hunt where you could kill a buck from 160 to 300". No joke and they had a 100 photos to prove it. To each his own, but not for me. If a guy wants to spend his hard earned money shooting a deer. I don't really care. That is the way a lot of Texas is now. Heck the Game and Fish brought CWD into Arkansas with the elk restoration plan.
