During WWII my Dad had 10 acres in Maibu above Paradise Cove. I was real young (about 4 or 5), but remember spending lots of time there during summers. We had a cabin there, but no elec or water. My Dad shot lots of deer there. I have a mount of one he shot in 1946 that is a 5x5 that is in the 150/160 range. As I remember Dad said he got 160# of meat from the butcher. He told me a lady owned a big ranch and imported a bunch of mulies from Utah for her place. The deer mount has hair well over 1" long, not like the typical Maibu deer. He sold the place in 1948.
