I am thinking of doing a M/L hunt this fall. The dates are 9/13 -9/21. Are the deer in the high country units still above timer line at this time of the year?

Usually still there. Still a lot cooler up there than down low.
You typically can't look high enough for timberline deer at that time unless you're looking above the peaks. You will find bucks well above timberline. It's a very good idea to scout in August. Some drainages will be barren while others will hold several bucks. They are fairly pattern-able at this time as well . . .

Still trying to decide if I want to go archery or M/L. I am looking at 65, 67, or 74. I am looking for opinions on the better high country unit in terms of the experience, access, and hunter pressure. Really any info that would help me decide. I have heard 67 has limited high country. This would be my first high country hunt so I am looking for a good combination of the experience/scenery and quality deer.

I have 4 points. That is why I am unsure on the season. I could easily get either tag and since it is my first time for this type of hunt I kinda like the increased success rate of M/L. I can hunt Archery starting next year. Plenty of archery units that one can draw with 0 points.

Actually if I decide on archery I would probably go for unit 66. I kinda like the other units more for M/L because I could get back into them for archery with 1 point and it would be nice to have some knowledge of the area when coming back with a bow.
