As you can see I'm new to this forum and found it by researching info on elk hunting Idaho and Montana. I posted my hunting history in the new member area if you'd like to check that out.
I've tried archery hunting elk on my own for 5 of the last 8 seasons and these past 3 seasons I wasn't able to hunt the archery seasons do to my mother-in-law recovering from a stroke.
This year looks like I'll be able to hit the woods again. What I hunted before was a nice area outside the town of Cougar Washington that I packed into. It's state land so no lumber company permit needed. I found elk every year while scouting and during the season. I'm interested in hunting this area again during the archery session and would be open to talking with someone that has elk hunting experience and looking to team up on a backpack in hunt.
I'm above average shape for 48 years old male and have hunted all my life. I respect the laws, the property I'm hunting whether it be publicly or privately owned plus I'm an ethical hunter. I have all my own gear and have stayed in the backcountry for up to 2 weeks before.
I'm hoping to draw Montana deer/elk tags again this year and also considering Idaho as an option for elk depending on how MT draw goes.
Just thought I'd throw this out there and see if someone is interested in talking about working together on some elk. If you're a Montana or Idaho hunter and looking for someone to hunt with, let's talk. I plan on doing a couple road trips this summer to scout out what I've found.
