Northwest Illinois resident wanting to go to Colorado next year for the first time. I?m not a trophy hunter,just looking for a cow elk or a fair mule deer buck. More than willing to share camp and fuel cost. Any info greatly appreciated.

I'm in East Central Iowa. Obviously, we don't know each other from Adam; plus I see you're new to the forum.
Hang out, introduce yourself; lots of good folks here with lots of great advice to share on western hunting [emoji106]
That being said, I went solo this yr to WY; but the door is always open in having like minded, ethical hunters join up. On the purely selfish side, splitting the gas bill to the Saudi sheiks only makes sensible sense!

First question for you is do you have any points for deer and elk in Colorado? Also are you looking at archery or rifle hunts?
For rifle cow tags are getting harder to draw with 0 points and while there are areas that you can draw a buck deer tag with 0 points.
Archery is a lot easier with the OTC either sex cow tags.
