I know 4 weeks is a little short notice but can anyone here suggest a drop camp or semi-guided outfit for myself and 1 nonhunting brother/packer? With the short notice Im obviously limited to OTC. Specifically looking for...AUG 27-Sept 7th, in wilderness or a far enough pack-in to get away from ATV's and daily foot traffic, I have the gear needed so fully equipped camp isn't required, able to bring a nonhunter guest, and within a few hours of an airport with scheduled airline service. Ive spent the last few days looking at some of the big name sites (BSC, cabelas, etc.) and found 1x1 or 1x2 guided hunts with too-good-to-be-true success rates in the $5-7K range. Im not sure if Im being a little optimistic but something <2500-3000K is within my budget. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Any state , preferably not co as in my past experience with its easy access from Midwest/Texas road trippers its seems a lot more crowded. OR or ID, not sure who else is OTC, co works but depends on where. Even Canada is on the table...I get to fly for nothing so i have the luxury of being very flexible. It's just me hunting, and depending on he cost I have a brother who has gone along to hike the hills 3 times and would go again.

You will find that all the states have problems with people when it comes to hunting and unless you pack into some private property you are going to see other hunters, even in wilderness areas.

Hey drop time...looking at some of your previous posts I see you frequent the area that ABO outfits. Lived in mt long time ago in Billings for just a year. Haven't looked at their tag process... Is that area Otc for archery? I see the mt website has a link for leftover tags but didn't look It up.

Yes, you can purchase a surplus elk license online but if you're going to archery hunt, you will need an advance bowhunting education certificate to get an archery stamp. Mon tana requires an archery stamp for nonresident hunters.I think it's $10 or something like that.
