I'm gonna be in Laramie at UW this fall, looking for any advice on where I can go bow hunt for mule deer and elk. Not looking for anybody's honey hole, just a few general ideas of places I could go either in the mornings before class or after class. Thanks

Probably too late to get a tag for this fall. Check the Wyo G & F website to see if there are any leftovers.

Are you a Resident? If not there are still Region J and Region T leftovers available if you move quick. There isn't much for public land in either of those areas, but something is better than nothing.

I think your best bet will be to find a tag that is available by leftover in an area you are willing to travel to. Also check out what public land is available in the area. This will be the biggest limiting factor for you. Once you know where you are goign to try and go and for what you might be able to get some better information. Be aware if there are still tags available there might be limited access to public land.

Good luck! I hope you find a spot but I couldn't even locate a place to hunt pronghorns in that area. The lady I talked to at the Laramie G&F was not very helpful to say the least (real gloom and doom type), they apparently don't even have a landowner list for that area .

Thanks for the info. I guess I should have read up on the regs a little bit better, I am a resident and will have the General OTC elk and deer tags, and I thought that the areas were generals down here.

It is 3 point or better in the snowys. I live in Laramie and there are several general areas and plenty of land in the medicine bow forest. It is pretty tough hunting though. A lot of people hunt in 10 for elk. I think 110 is general too for lk.
Thanks crumy. In 09 I spent 2 days out during the general deer rifle season and it was pretty populated with people out there. I was looking more for the archery season. I've looked at Google Earth and found a few places that seem to have potential, just haven't been able to get out and lay eyes on them yet.
I found the same thing with F+G out of Laramie. I got the distinct impression they did not want non-residents hunting around there. Buddy and I went anyway and found some goats to take home with us. Laramie is unlike the other areas of Wyoming I have been to, they only had one processor that advertised and had a working phone number, in Wyoming of all places. The area around the university is nice though.
See I like the mountains around Laramie more than Laramie itself, but I do see the campus everyday. I have found a few places to go but I left my hunting stuff at my parents house after an antelope decommissioned my truck last weekend.
