Lamoille Canyon Campground (Thomas Cyn.)

Headed back to Estes Park for brother in laws wedding in July. Want to make the trip 3 days, camp along the way.

Lamoille is about 8 hours from home. Good Spot for a July 1 Family overnight tent camp?

Figuring on the next night in UT. Maybe Jordanelle Res.?

Lamoille is a cool place to visit. The canyon has some great country to see. There is some deer, elk, and Mt Goats there. I haven't camp d there before but would think it would be a good place to camp.

I live near Jordanelle res. and the water will be really low by July. Are you looking to just camp or get out and explore? If you like to flyfish you will be hitting it perfect for the green drake hatch on the middle Provo river!

Lamoille canyon is a great place to camp. Lots to see and do.
We tried to reserve a spot for late July but almost every spot is already resereved. You can go to "Recreation.gov" to see if there are any spaces available for the time you need. There were a few spots available between reserved dates for a night or two.
South Fork resevoir just south of Spring Creek has camping but it will be pretty warm in July.

Good for you. We've camped there a few times and we really enjoy it. With a little luck you might see some mountain goats.

That's a pretty easy trail for the whole family and quite scenic so make sure you take a camera with you too.

You might even see a Himalayan snowcock up at Island Lake if you're lucky. My wife and I camped at Goat Lake (up Thomas Canyon) a few years ago. We got to the bottom of Thomas Canyon late at night and just found a wide spot on the side of the road to camp until morning. Not sure if you're supposed to do that, but the official Thomas Canyon campground looked like a nice spot. We even saw some bighorn sheep not far up the canyon, in addition to quite a few mule deer and mountain goats.

If you like to fish the creek as small as it looks has lots of fish to be had. Even way up the canyon where it's really small has brook trout that are always willing to take a worm floated into little pools. Down lower by the campgroung there are rainbows and occasionally brown trout. Lots of fun.
The lakes also have fish.
