I've been looking at the kowa BD42-10XD binos but I haven't found much information on them. I would really like to know how they stack up against other binoculars in the same price point? Can they be attached to a tripod? How they perform glassing at longer ranges 1000+ yards?

Kowa makes some very good optics. I have one of their very ultra lite spotting scopes, poor field of view, but very good glass. I have seen their top end spotting scopes rated as better than the big 3 Euro scopes more than once. Not sure if it is the same series, but this site rates their BD in 8x as a very good choice for the $, and their top end bino as better than the Swaro SLC's.
