Kifaru Packs?

I am looking for an extended stay pack with meat hauling chops. I feel like I have narrowed it down to the Kifaru Duplex Timberline 1 (7200ci) or the Kuiu 7000. The Mystery Ranch system has an outside shot. I've seen feedback on the Kuiu and MR packs, but not much on the Kifaru.

Anyone out there care to share their experience with th DT1 (or dt2 or dt3)?

I got the standard timberline with the composite internal stays. The pack is very comfortable and has the capacity to haul more than I would want.

I have no regrets about this pack. The outside pockets are set up real well for use of a spotting scope and for access to day gear without having to dig through the main compartment.

I have used almost all the different manufacturers packs and I feel that Kifaru is by far the best pack maker. I really love the KU line of Kifaru packs. Worth every dollar.

I went through this very same thing over the past year. I was at the same place you are right now Dryfly. After months of reading, talking to people and trying on packs I went with the kifaru. Bikini with Timberline 1 7200 pack. I was lucky enough to live close enough to kifaru to go down and check out the packs. Patrick (the owner), Aron and the rest of the staff there are great. Will go out of the way to make sure you get what you NEED. I never had the feeling they were trying to "sell" me. Not to advertise another forum on here, but if you go to rokslide.com you will see a good mix of review and people who do ALOT of backcountry hunting off their backs. They are willing to answer all your questions. The site is owned by Aron, but they have other reviews of packs. Right now there is one going on between the Stone Glacier and the Bikini frame. The packs are expensive but I felt good about spending the money after meeting them and trying on the packs.

I have one on order, I also tried the stone glacier on this year at the sheep show, I am very impressed with both packs. Both are minimalist, tough packs. In the end I'm glad I went with kifaru for the simple fact there are more options to choose from to get exactly what you want.

Which kifaru did you order?

Great minds think alike. I put the crew cab on the shelf and bought a Bikini frame/highcamp bag, all 3 pockets, all in designer camo.

Kifaru DT1 here they are amazing people to deal with Aron has gone way above and beyond

I am mystery ranch guy personally, but I won't try to steer you away from Kifaru. I would stay away from KUIU packs, but with either MR or Kifaru I dont think you can go wrong. The frames for Kifaru and the Mystery ranch packs both fit somewhat different body frames in my opinion. If you have a chance to get your hands on both a MR and a Kifaru, I would take the chance and try them both on and then buy what suits better. Both packs are top notch though so I dont think you can go wrong either way. Stone Glacier would be a good outside choice too.

Sold my KUIU 6000, have a Kifaru on order. All it took was trying it on at the Sheep Show, and I was sold. Ordered a tan Bikini frame, with a Highlander Highcamp pack.
