Just drew Unit 18 archery ELK tag!

Just put in for the second draw and drew this hells canyon tag on a whim. Archery. I've never been in this unit before, but I've heard lots about it. Anyone willing to share some info? It would be greatly appreciated. You can reply here or pm, either is fine.

I just got done doing a float trip there. Very steep country, that is easy to cliff out on.
this pic was taken a couple of weeks ago.
The "peak" is about a 1/4 of the way to the top.

yea, you hit a cliff going up or down and there is no where else to go.

Oh.. Okay. Thanks for the heads up. Did you see many elk?

We did not see much game at all. Some deer, a couple of bears and a mountain goat driving in. But I usually don't see much game on river trips in the summer. the river is on the bottom and the game is on top.

Thanks guys. Having a tough time getting much useful info on the unit. But looking it over on ONX maps, it looks like there's lots of good access into the wilderness. And a good trial system once you get into the roadless area. Guess I'll just be putting some serious miles on my new Kenetreks, sending out lots of "contact" bugles, and hoping for a little luck.
