Hey everyone, new member here. I'm originally from South Texas, but I now reside in Austin. I have been following the forum for a few weeks now, and I really appreciate all the "know-how" and stories that get shared on here.
I grew up hunting whitetails down in ole' Mexico, on the family's ranch. I went on an "unsuccessful" bear hunt in New Mexico three years ago (hard to call something so enjoyable "unsuccessful"), and I have been hooked on western hunting every since. Don't get me wrong, I still hit the deer blinds down in Mexico every year, but there's nothing like hunting the untamed and expansive public lands our western states have to offer. I really wish my home state had something like it.
In the past three years, I have gone on two "unsuccessful" bear hunts in NM, and this past October I drew a pronghorn tag in New Mexico (see picture below). Shooting a bull-elk on public land has been on my bucket list for a long time, and I've been putting in for elk tags in New Mexico for the past 5 years (I have a good feeling about this year).
If anybody has questions about hunting whitetails in South Texas or Mexico, feel free to holler at me.
