Unit 44 has produced some great deer in the past and should still hold several worthy trophies. It has suffered from several fires in the last few years, as well as a few small ones already this year, so I would recommend a flexible plan for hunting this unit. The Idaho Fish and Game website has a map center with an up-to-date fire map feature so you can see all active and recent fires. If you are looking for a milder terrain hunt then the southern part of the unit near highway 20 and the Camas Creek drainage is the ticket, but is mostly private land, so you may have to contact some landowners if you want to hunt there. The northern part of the unit is mountainous and in places very steep, but is national forest land with public access. Both north and south offer good opportunities for big bucks so it just depends on what kind of hunt you are looking for. Good luck!
