I'd start by looking around the mystery range and pay particular attention to the notellhim creek.

looking to put in for mule deer draw, any good spots?
I'll try to help you out a bit here. First, the Forum is big on intro's, so consider doing one. Second, this is your first post, asking for spots, which infers a rather specific locale, is unlikely to get you specifics.

I'd suggest after you do an intro you stick around and participate, then you should probably do some research yourself into areas that represent the type of terrain you like, then come back and ask about any info folks could offer on 2-3-4 units. Odds are that will produce better results. Plenty of good folks on the forum, but most are not willing to give much info to a first post asking for spots.

Despite the razzing you got, which was good natured, there are mulies in ID. The actual answer to your query is Yes.

I did many of hours of research and asked a relatively specific question early on. I still got a rash of chit from these mean...awful people. Don't take it too hard, but I laughed when I read your post. The ID hunt planner has hundreds of hours of reading material and statistics. Half the fun of DIY hunting is DIY research. It makes a successful hunt much more rewarding. Spend time reading for about another week and then ask some questions in time to make the controlled hunt drawing. You will likely get much better results.

But as others have said....There really aren't any Mule deer in ID.

Ok Gentleman, thank you for the razzing. Let me try this again, I am new to the forum. I am a California guy, looking to hunt Idaho. I hunted the South east corner of Idaho about 3 yrs ago, without success. My wife and I are looking for another spot as you will, to put up our tent and hunt out of there. So after I do my research and pick a general area, I will be back and hopefully you folks can help me out alittle.

Much better, and thanks for taking the criticism well.

The MRS has a lot of great info that will help you get going the right direction as well. The guys here know those charts like the back of their hands after a day or two and are usually willing to talk through it.

Also, we would love to see how your last Idaho hunt turned out and any other trophies you may have harvested!

One CA guy to another, look at the success rates and other pertinent information on the ID F&G website and determine which units suit your needs. Then search relentlessly for any and all info you can find about those specific areas..THEN apply for that unit or buy that OTC tag and put your feet on the ground there. By the end of your hunt you will have many great memories, intimate knowledge of the area, and possibly the animal of your dreams (or may have seen it). If after that you decide you don't care for that unit, you can start the process over, or try to get that same unit again if it met or exceeded your expectations.
I personally will be applying for a unit that I found in this manor, after successfully hunting it for the first time and having to sit out for the one year waiting period. Nothin like DIY!
