Hello everyone! I unfortunately put in for a Wyoming Type 9 Archery tag and didn't draw for the 2nd straight year. It's been a long few years since I've got to hear Bulls buggle and I'm anxious to go somewhere else for the first time. Does anyone have any advice on great units to archery hunt in Idaho? I have a co-worker who rifle hunted Tex Creek Zone last year but has never archery hunted. I also was looking into 66A and a few other units. I'm open to go to any unit to find a nice bull. I know it's a long shot asking for advice, but I would just like to get the opportunity to go elk hunting again this year. Thanks in advance for any help it will be greatly appreciated!

both units provide good op. diamond creek has a limited quota on tags and fills up fast and getting away from people is difficult, tex creek has some wonderful opportunities if you have the means to get in a few miles.

Tex creek and Palasades can get a bunch of people in there during rifle. I've never hunted it in Archery but I've seen some made tree stands in a few places before. I agree with Ivory, get off the very beat' path and you will prob do ok.

Thanks ivorytip and Ikeepitcold for the advice I really appreciate it. I called Idaho yesterday as soon as the Wyoming results were published and they said they still have a good bit of 66A tags available still. So I wanted to seek advice from others before committing anywhere. With previous experience on Grey's River Rd. in Alpine WY. I knew 66 and 66A were just across the border from Alpine and would help me with knowing a little about the general area. That's the only reason I was highly considering those units. So thanks for the tips!

unit 39 would be a great archery hunt if you can draw it. huge area not many tags so little hunting pressure that time of year. would also suggest looking into muzzleloader hunt for same unit if you have any interest in the smokepoles.
if not successfull in draw look at smoky-bennit area for over the counter opportunities.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has any Maps they are willing to sell for Unit 66A and/or Unit 76. I'm looking for terrain maps that include roadways and streams/rivers. Just trying to get a game plan together and learn the area a bit. Also, not sure if anyone has any suggestions on great spots to place a camper and camp from, but I appreciate all the help I can get. First time in over 8 years hunting a new region, so kind of nervous but excited at the same time. Thanks in advance everyone!

Use hillmap.com, it has multiple maps and overlays you can use. You can also print your own custom maps from it.
