If meals consist of 50 being dehydrated, how much fuel do I need for 10,000 elevation? I know there are a ton of variables, but estimated, how many fuel canisters should I bring? Using this

Depends how efficient it is. I had a stove similar to that and at 10k it had a hard time getting to a complete boil. I probably got at least 4 meals from 1 canister. My jetboil I have now is much more efficient.

I have never heard of Volcano fuel so I cant attest to that. But I have read up of fuels in the past and have only ever used Snow Peak. It 85% isobutane and 15% propane. I have been told that more isobutane is better in winter and at higher elevations. I was able to do 6 packs of mountain house meals (boiling 1 cup of water each) and still had a little bit of fuel left.

I used my jet boil for two people on 6 day hunt eating at least one Mtn House meal a piece every night. Jet boil is super efficient! Not sure about yours. Also we camped at 11,800 feet.

+2 I was surprised to read about multiple cans being used. We also have a Jet Boil and it seems like I always took too much fuel. I'd go a whole week on 1 can ( larger size) and still have extra. ( hot water for oatmeal, coffee in the am, hot water for instant chicken soup at lunch and a mountain house for dinner. It was cold out!!

I normally go through 3/4 of a can of jet-boil fuel a week. That's the small can. I bring 3 cans for 14 days just in case.

yeah, i'd budget 2 small snowpeak cans for a week but probably will end up with some leftover. That's boiling water morning and night for 1-2 people
