I don't even know for sure! Probably 6-700. I have everything i need, but I splurge a bit and have wood brought up to camp. it saves time and is more quiet, since camp can have critters come by at any time. Fuel, propane, food and beverages for 8 days. I did buy a couple bottles of 100 dollar a bottle bourbon only to be opened when blood was on my hands. With 9 guys in camp, I got 2 drinks. They were the best tasting drinks I have had after getting the second elk off the mountain. I was whipped and anything probably would of tasted good!! I wish it was only 300 bucks though!
WHAT THE HECK YOU DRINKING!!??? I cant even think of a bourbon that much over 1/2 that!! Well maybe in Washington. lol Evan Williams $27.00/1/2 gal in Idaho. Wild turkey $50 something/1/2 gal in Idaho. LOL

IDK what I spend either. Depends where I go. But its pretty much tag/diesel/food no matter what or where I hunt. Usually stop and sit down and eat once a day if Im driving a ways just to get a break from driving. Maybe 1 room after the hunt for a shower. I usually go cheap as I can.

I know it was really old. Think it was American Spirit or something. Came in a pretty wood box though!!lol... It was really smooth. I usually do not drink Bourbon and when I did it was Buffalo Trace or Devils Cut, but this was really good and should of been for the price. Had to keep the troops motivated packing the 2 elk out. It worked!!

I only do DIY hunts, the last 6 years it has been Elk hunts in Montana. We are from Michigan. so it is about 1600 miles one way.
The total cost is about $1600.00 each for the 2 of us.
that is for a 2 week hunt.

My friend and I were recently looking at going on a whitetail hunt in the Midwest and I was kind of surprised at the cost of whitetail tags in some of the states. It got me wondering about how much you guys from out of state usually spend on an elk hunt out west ( gas, food, license and whatever else). Just interested in seeing how it compares for us to go on a hunt in the Midwest.
Don't overlook Wisconsin. Produces more B&C bucks than anyone over the last 10 years, NR tags are under $200, and if you haven't bought a tag in 10 years, they are half price. It has a fair amount of public land as well, though some of it is a little tricky to find. I'd also look at Minnesota.

I probably travel farther than most, hunt Montana for elk, somewhere around 1600 per person for 2 people, could knock that down to 1300 if I could ever get 4 people to go. I dont mind the cost, I just wish the west wasn't so far west, 34 hours is a long long time to be in a truck.

I try not to think about it and and avoid that question like the plague everytime my wife brings it up. If I ever have to answer that question I don't think it will be pretty. I'll just distract her with the lobster, prime rip, and such. :p
