I was wondering how much practice and or shooting everyone does. I am a firm believer in practice, dry firing and popping primers!

I shoot competitively a couple of time a month (Cowboy Action), usually shoot trap once a month and shoot twice a week (Nov thru March) in a Bulls Eye Pistol League. I also usually shoot the range once or twice a month. I also dry fire my single action pistols. I usually reload 1 day a week to keep my ammo inventory in line with my shooting.

My son and I shot prairie dogs yesterday. I Shot about 100 rounds thru my .220 Ackley Improved Swift and .17 HMR.

Don't shoot my big game hunting rifles except just before seasons start.

Just wondering.....................

Lately not enough.

Last year I put around 500 rounds through my .25-06 getting ready for my coues hunt. I ignored shooting my TC Contender and it showed on my hunt this last February down in Arizona for javelina. I plan on fixing that this summer.

When I was younger I shot a lot, 200-300 rounds a week out of my pistols which I believe made me a better rifle shot. The rifles always stayed in the safe until hunting season came around. But then I have always been a very good shot with a rifle, my dad drilled it into me when I was around 5 years old. He taught me how to shoot and the importance of using a solid rest and he installed in me the importance of staying calm while looking at the target before pulling the trigger.

I shoot my .22 rifles all summer long. I usually shoot 2-3 times a week when the weather co-operates. I have plenty of rimfire ammo to burn-up....way cheaper than centerfire.

I shoot less and less every year it seems. I haven’t shot my bow but once since bow season. I haven’t shot any rifles at targets in well over a year. I have ammo for my .300 win mag that I loaded ten years ago. I have 50 brand new cases for my .280AI I got over a year ago I haven’t even loaded yet. I really don’t care for shooting my bow, it doesn’t entertain me for some reason. Rifles are more fun but very rarely do I take the time to go shoot them. I usually find other things that I would rather do on my free time. I know I’m not as good of a shot as I used to be but I seem to get it done when it counts. I’m a shoot it a few times to make sure it’s still on and go hunting type, even with my bow.

As much as I can. For hunting I think I get out and shoot much more then most. I will shoot 5-8 times throughout the year in different conditions and different set ups to keep up on real life conditions. I really screwed myself only bench shooting for a few years and when I went out to hunt I had a horrible flinch. I have solved that problem now but I still need to practice more with steady sticks.

I shoot some form of a firearm every other day.

Lately I have been burning up the high powers getting ready for this bear trip.

Im similar, I shot so much when I was young that shooting a rifle is a very natural thing. I think the fact that I’ve shot the same rifle all my life (Winchester M70) has much to do with it. I did buy a new rifle a little over a year ago but it has the same action and safety as the Ol M70, it does feel different and I haven’t gotten as used to it as I should be.

I like to shoot but don't seem to often enough. I've run thru about 1000 rounds of .22 in the last month and 1 12 gauge round, yesterday. Got my first ever turkey!!
When I was really into handguns I would shoot about 20,000 rounds yearly, I doubt I shoot more than 1000 now.
With large rifles I probably go thru 300 rounds a year testing loads and practicing, mostly 338-06 and 375H&h.

This spring has been ridiculously busy for us. Eight days and the chaos stops for a bit. After that we will shoot our bows daily, and our rifles at least once a week.

Handguns? We will try to practice and shoot a couple USPSA events this year, but it is hard to set aside those Sundays anymore.

Shot 23 coyotes since Jan 1, that's about as good of field practice as I can get I figure.

I shoot a lot, I'm fortunate to have a 100yd range in my yard plus spinner targets I can shoot from field positions. A little over a mile from home I have a target board and gong I can shoot to 600yds. I also have several of the polymer bouncing targets I can shoot. It varies a lot with the season but I get several thousand rounds of rimfire or centerfire shot through the year from rifles or handguns. I shoot far more rifle than handgun. I also shoot on a trap league from March to October once a month to keep my shotgun shooting adequate. I am not great with a shotgun by any means, the months I'm shooting rifles heavy I seem to be worse. I think I try to be to precise before squeezing the trigger instead of just shooting. Summer months when I don't shoot the rifles as much I seem to hit my higher shotgun scores. I think the shotgun practice helps me on running coyotes though, it keeps me honest on not stopping my swing.

Ft. Carson is about an hour and five minute drive from my place. Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex (CMSC) is located there, and they have numerous ranges. My buddies and I try to go once a week, or every other week. They have "steel" out to 500 yds during the week, and open up the 1,000 yd range on the weekend.

Both of my buddies that go with me to CMSC had never shot 500 yds previously until this year, so to see their ear-to-ear grin after shooting groups that far, is really fun for me to watch as well.

I made it up to Burlington, WY last year, and took two courses with the guys from Gunwerks. Learned a lot, and had a great time.

I did a rough estimate how much I actually shoot annually.
Cowboy Action - 25,000
Bulls Eye Pistol - 5,000
Trap,Sport Clays-2,000
Prairie dogs, Coyotes - 2,000
I don't do much load development as I shoot the same loads in my big game rifles for quite a few years and am very satisfied with them. I reload everything except rimfire, so I spend at least one day a week loading ....more in the winter.

I try to shoot my bow 3-4 times per week. Rifles and pistols I try to shoot 1-2x per month. However, as season draws near, I shoot them weekly.

If I ever feel like I need to shoot past 300 with my rifle and 30 with my bow I would need to practice. I don’t hunt with a pistol so accuracy isn’t to big of a deal for me there. I’m not even sure why I feel the need to have a pistol, for fun I guess.

CC I have zero doubt you shoot more than I ever will, keep having fun! I know I haven’t shot as much in the last 40 years as you do in one year.

Wow that’s a lot. I don’t even come close to that. I stopped reloading a few years ago and the ammo I shoot is $57 a box so I try to keep it down to a couple boxes each time out.
