I'm looking for a holster that slips over the wider hip belt of my pack. Anyone know of a company that makes something?

Thanks

Badlands just came out with one for their packs. From the looks of it it may work with other pack too though. Not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for. I have the Primos holster but it wouldnt fit a wide belt

Anybody notice any noise with those kydex type holsters when your trapsing through the trees ? What about dropping from pack all together and going with a drop leg holster? Just thinking at least then it is guaranteed to be with you all the way through a stalk.

Whatever you end up with, I highly recommend making sure it has a thumb snap. i know those paddle rigs snap the weapon in but I will never use a holster on a backpack without a thumb snap again. weapon retention is everything and if its not right on your hip, its harder to ensure its there at all times.

Here is how mine is done.
Sorry I just saw your post. Here are a few pics. right now I have the paddle holster with the strap mounted on a belt platform. The strap is nylon. The nylon has a little stretch and fits pretty tight. You just pop the snap as you release the paddle lock on the holster. Works very good and not worried about accidentally hitting the paddle and loosing the gun. The chance of undoing both walking trough brush is pretty slim. The strap against the pack is held by the lower screw on the backside. You can just melt a hole in the nylon. For the front strap I made a rivet with a flat piece to hold the strap then drilled a hole in the holster and riveted it. The plastic is very thick in this area. $3.00 in parts job.

You can see the nylon through the holes near the bottom mounting screws.

Both Blackhawk and Safariland have holsters that attach/detach from their platform to allow carry in/on different surfaces (belts, vests, molle, etc).
The Blackhawk Serpa in the level 2 configuration also has a hole to attach a bungee strap for additional security, although the Serpa's are pretty secure. The S.T.R.I.K.E. Platform for the Serpa will fit just about anything, and you can get Serpa's to fit just about any handgun :)

All that said.....my preference for a holster while carrying a pack is a chest holster. I use this one, really like it:
