How many guys here use or have used a H.S. tarptent in the backcountry? What model? How did it perform? Any condensation issues? How does it hold up to heavy winds/storms?

I use a Contrail. I have had excellent performance. It stood up to some surprisingly strong winds one night. Condensation can be tricky. Pitching to catch some prevailing winds helps, and unless it is really raining, I leave the "beak" vestibule wide open.

I used a TT Moment last year. Served my needs very well. Didn't have any strong winds to deal with so I can't comment on that. No issues with condensation either. I did buy a liner for it but ended up not using it, so that is always an option should condensation be a problem.

I bought one last year after Eastmans review of small tents. I dont know what model it is but it is considered a one man tent. I would sleep in it with my wife but no one else to give you an idea for size. I really liked it the one time I used it on a backpack elk hunt last year. The double side vestibules are great for stashing you pack or boots or some careful cooking if its coming down. I had heard some complain on backpacking sites about ventilation but didnt have a problem with condensation. I did leave the top vents open. I plan on using it again this week for a backpack Steelhead trip.
