Can anyone direct me to a source for info or a decent area to hunt antelope in area 9? I know it's not the best area, but we have a young hunter who's yet to kill a big game animal (he's missed to pigs here in Ca) and this was a sure draw area for us.
Thanks

Hey Roger-
Here's a link to the walk-in hunting areas in your unit.
https://wgfoapps.wyo.gov/plpwhmprogram/uploads/huntingwalk/niobrara/Niobrara.pdf

My first western hunting trip was an area 9 antelope tag 5 or 6 years ago with nothing more than this info and a usgs map that shows the state/blm ground. You can pick up a hard copy of this map at the hardware store in Lusk I believe

If you want to do more of a stand hunt the walk-in land due east of Lusk (wia 15 on the map) has some irrigated alfalfa. If you want more room to roam and spot and stalk the land west of town is much bigger. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

We hunted this unit, among others, back in 2013. It was right after the big blizzard that came through in early October. We had a tough go of it in unit 9, mostly due to having to contend with mud and melting snow. But, we saw antelope and managed to fill a tag or two there. I don't know if there's any real secret to that unit. There's a few decent pieces of public land to check out. I'd look at the Walk-in areas for sure. Also, there's plenty of land North of Manville. We didn't see a ton of goats there, but did see some. It looked like good country. There's a good amount of hills in that area, so a bit of walking to see more ground might be needed.
