Help on green chip elk units

A friend and I are going to burn our elk points in Wyoming this year. We should average 5,5 points and according to the MRS we should be able to draw most of the green chip units. Neither of us are too spry any more so the "extreme" terrain hunts are out. I guess I'm looking for some recommendations or more specific information. Is there trespass access available in units like 106, 122 and 125 where public land represents a smaller percentage of the unit. What about access roads in some of the tougher terrain units? We can hike if we can make some of the elevation on roads. Anyone have experience with unit 2 or 19? We're not looking for a 350 bull as much as an opportunity and a unit we can handle. Any help is appreciated greatly.

I guess 122 and 2 are the closest to me. As far as terrain, both areas have hills and draws that you wouldn't expect from glancing at a map, but I would still put them as more moderate than the western mountains for sure. 122 there are roads everywhere, but I don't know how many of them are private roads. When I have been on them I have had an excuse. Anyway I haven't really looked into hunting that area much. Area 2 looks like a lot of BLM also but the areas I have tried have been gated off from the public roads. If you wanted to go the trespass fee route, that might be a good area. I know they have ranches with antelope trespass fees, so maybe they would do elk also. It also has the hills and draws and flats in between. I picked up a lost surveyor out there one time. His GPS quit on him I guess. I didn't think they ever got lost. There are little drainages everywhere and they all kindof look the same. Both of those areas have elk just not as many as other areas, so there aren't as many tags. A lot of people have good success off of ATV's. You can cover a lot of country without hiking as much. They rent them in Buffalo and Sheridan, probably lots of other places too if that is an option. I need to get one someday.

I checked into Area 2 a couple years ago, and from what I gathered from the warden, there are access issues to get to the better areas - it was possible, but you'd need a GPS chip and some legs to make it work. Lots of private land to try and work around if you don't have access. I'd really do your research on Area 2 if you want to give it a try.

I looked at Area 120 as well which is to the west of 122. I was told that there were lots of roads, but that a person could hike in and get away from some of the pressure if they wanted more of a backcountry style hunt. I didn't pursue it much more than that, but if you drew that tag, I'd really be interested in hearing your thoughts on the hunt. I have 7 points and am looking to burn them in the next couple years, and 120 has been on my radar.

OK...sorry, just looked at 120 draw odds and you had to have 7 points last year for a guaranteed tag in the regular preference point draw. You could easily draw it on the Special tag though.
