Help Me Understand the Wyoming Draw Process

I am doing a bit of research on WY Antelope and am confusing myself a little bit. I thought I had the draw process figured out but the more I look at it I am not sure I understand.

So for a NR, the tags are split 75/25 into the PP and Random drawing. Does everyone enter the PP drawing at first, even those without any PP? Then those who do not draw in the PP pool get moved to the Random pool? Or do you have the option to skip the PP drawing and head straight for the Random pool of tags?

For arguements sake lets assume there are 100 tags available so 75 in the PP drawing and 25 in the random drawing. If 200 people apply, The top 75 point holders (wherever they may be on that scale) would draw in the PP drawing, then the remaining 125 get put into the Random hat where 25 more winners are drawn, regardless of PP totals (but then if they draw in the Random and the unit is their first choice then PP are reset). The remaining 100 applicants do not draw.

So to determine the true number of tags available I would need to add the PP and Random allocations together correct?

Is that correct, or am I getting twisted around? I am searching the G&F site and can't come up with any literature to help me.

You're correct. If you put in for a first choice unit, you get ran through the PP side first whether you have 10 or 0 points After the allotted quota is reached (75% of available quota in either the Special or Regular PP draw) then everyone is put in the random draw, that wasn't successful in the PP draw, for the remaining 25% of the quota. If you draw your first choice on the application, no matter if it's in the PP pool or random pool, you loose all accumulated PP's for that species.

Thanks. I actually just found that on the G&F website. There is a link for it on the "Apply" page. It sure would be nice if they put that in a better spot!!

You choose your units once, then the draw goes as described above. No switching units for different parts of the draw as far as I know.
