Spent all day looking for speed goats, didn't have any time to scout before season. Had a guide acquaintance point me towards the crescent valley area. Tons of cows and wild horses, very little antelope sign. I'm not driving roads, I'm trying to hike back in towards springs away from roads. I've found tracks and droppings but no lope. Any help for this area would be great. I know there was a thread about further south towards grass valley, if I don't see any in the morning I'll pickup and move, only have this weekend, archery deer ends soon and I'm out doing that after this.

I found them, went back this morning where I found the sign yesterday. Went the other direction and found them a mile back, chased a good buck for another 2 miles until I sealed the deal at 300yds. Glad they're small, pretty easy pack out. Can't seem to post pics, I'll keep trying. He rough scored mid 70's. I'm happy as hell with my first lope.

Thanks guys, I'm happy. IKIC I'm not a fan of roads. Actually sat up the night before looking at maps for springs as far from roads I could find. Wasn't real rough country, just hot and no shade. Had him boned and caped and back to the truck on ice by 10am.

Very cool! Way to go and work hard for a great buck! Make sure you put you pics and story on the contest thread!
