I've been on another hunting board (HT) for about 7 years when I started bowhunting, so some posters' names here will probably already be familiar and vice versa. Anyway, if I could manage (time off & money to do so) hunting elk several times a year, I'd happily give up hunting every other animal. Unfortunately, that hasn't been in the cards, so far. A wise turkey hunter once told me that if I wanted to kill turkeys, to hang around people who killed a lot of turkeys. So I'm applying that strategy here - I'm always looking to gain knowledge on hunting elk and other critters and to share what little I've learned.

Welcome, there is a lot of knowledge here, what are you planning to hunt this fall?
Thanks for the welcome!

I drew an early archery bull tag for my home state - AZ GMU 4A - so I'm planning on getting very, very well acquainted with that unit (have only hunted it for deer but many decades ago). I didn't fill my AZ archery deer tag in January, so I'll still have that in my pocket come August, while scouting, and then again in December if it doesn't work out in August. ;)

I tagged out on archery javelina this January, my first pig. I drew a shotgun Spring turkey tag for AZ GMU 1 in the White Mountains, so that should be fun in early May if we don't get snowed out like we did 2 years back.

I'll probably just apply for a BP in CO, since I'm burning 3 weeks of vacation for a trip to Brazil this summer and another week to Maine. Had thought about WY for speedgoat and an OTC archery elk tag somewhere if I didn't draw AZ, NM or CO, but that's taken care of this year. And, I'll spend a day here and there tying to catch some brown trout in backwaters before they dry out in the hot AZ sun.
