I drew my WY antelope tag this year. I have never hunted in the state before, so I'm looking forward to getting out there. My brother and I drew unit 41 and that season starts on September 25th. Thinking about heading out a few days early to bowhunt and then stay for a couple of days to rifle hunt. Never been to the unit before, but it should be a good time!

Maybe someone can help me out here. How do you pre-scout an area for antelope? On an elk hunt, I can easily study maps and google earth to determine where bedding and feeding areas are. It at least gives you a starting point on where to go before you get a chance to get out there. Can you do anything for antelope? I doubt I will get a chance to get out to my unit before the season starts. Will I just have to dedicate a day to scouting once I get out there? Any ideas for things to look for in advance? Thanks!

Always start by finding the water. Other than that ... find the highest point in your area you can, and let your optics do the walking. I don't know if I've driven five miles in Wyoming without seeing goats ... my guess is you will have a great time.

Cowboy Country!!
Congrats on the tough draw!! I see that only one tag was given out and 26 people applied. First thing you will need to do is check out public and private on the maps. Most of that country is big on the elk hunters and the ranchers don't care about antelope. Hit some up and you have a pretty good chance of getting on. As for water, thats not going to be an issue this year, IMHO. The Laramie river is still flooding and its almost July. We have also been getting rainstorms almost every evening. I would probably start at Garrett and head to the West Northwest. If I make it up there some time soon I will post some pics.
