Harrington Ranch Gila Hunt

Been calling around to a bunch of outfitters in NM for a Gila NF hunt for archery. I got in touch with Joe Miller of Harrington Ranch, and I'm having him send me a list of references and contract so I can apply in the outfitters draw. Does anyone here have any experience with him or his outfit?

The main reason I'm looking at him, is he seems to be very flexible with different options in the area. Drop camp, fully guided, easy to add days to your hunt, ect.... I just can't justify paying an outfitter, and traveling all the way down there for only a 6 day hunt. If I do just book for 6 days, I'll make sure he's willing to set me up for the rest of the season.

Well.... never the less. I've got a partially guided hunt worked out with this outfitter. Which will be my first time ever hiring one. Gonna call the references he provided before signing a contract....

Is there any other steps I should take?

I know some guys buy trip insurance for long hi $ trips. Not sure if that applies here, but if it's your first guided trip, so it's a big deal to you. Hopefully he provided all past hunters for a couple years, successful and not successful. Wish I knew something about your outfitter, but I don't. That's some great elk country, hope you have a safe and successful hunt.
